FORT WALTON BEACH — In an effort to spotlight the diverse capabilities that exist among the area’s technical businesses, the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County’s TeCMEN (Technology Coast Manufacturing & Engineering Network) Committee is holding an Industry Day event at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Aug. 29.

Structured to include both a speaker symposium and a technical showcase featuring local, regional and national companies involved in manufacturing, engineering and technology— along with select workforce development, training and educational entities — the inaugural TeCMEN Industry Day will run from 7:30 a.m.to 5 p.m.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we will have 45 exhibitors on hand for our first TeCMEN Industry Day. In addition to local companies, we will be welcoming companies from other parts of Florida and even a handful from out-of-state,” said EDC Executive Director Nathan Sparks.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase our area and help facilitate connections among businesses.”

The lineup for the symposium includes speakers and panelists from companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, L3 Crestview Aerospace and Eastern Shipbuilding. In addition, former Florida Speaker of the House and current Chairman of Triumph Gulf Coast Allan Bense will be delivering the morning keynote address.

“We encourage anyone who has interest in gaining perspective on the future of manufacturing, technology or defense— or in networking with decision makers in these key industries — to consider attending. Individuals need not be working in these sectors to join us for the event,” said Linda Sumblin, TeCMEN Manager.

The cost to attend is $75 ($65 for Government attendees; $50 for TeCMEN members) and includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The deadline to register for the event is Friday.

A full conference agenda and exhibitor list is available at www.tecmenindustryday.com. Interested parties may register using this site or by calling the EDC at 850-362-6467.
