Incumbent Workers' Training

As part of its January 2010 TeCMEN restructuring, the EDC identified the needed existing worker training requirements of its TeCMEN member companies as a component of its improved program format. The EDC's new Incumbent Worker Training program targeted the industries of Aviation, Aerospace, Defense and National Security; Health Sciences and Human Performance Enhancement; Renewable Energy and the Environment; Transportation, Logistics Services and International Trade; Information Technology; and Research and Engineering.

The EDC partnered with the University of West Florida and CareerSource Okaloosa Walton to offer annual incumbent worker training programs in project management and technical supervision, lean manufacturing and six sigma. Since 2010, the EDC has offered four high-level employee training courses at no cost to more than 25 existing Okaloosa County Businesses. The total value of this training is in excess of $230,000.

In September 2014, the partnership conducted a needs assessment to determine which advanced manufacturing certification training opportunities per year should be offered for employees of TeCMEN member companies. These programs will up-skill the workforce and generate a positive impact on the future of advanced manufacturing in Northwest Florida. Read more about the partnership here
